Intergovernmental Organization Migration and Humanitarian Aid
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a part of the United Nations System and serves as the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration. With 175 member states and offices in 171 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. The organization provides support to migrants worldwide, develops effective responses to the shifting dynamics of migration, and offers advice on migration policy and practice. IOM collaborates with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to enhance the resilience of people on the move, particularly those in vulnerable situations, and works closely with governments to manage all forms of mobility and their impacts.
